What is the Typical Process and Lead Time for a Residential Solar System?

Do I have to lose power when the grid is down?

No. With falling battery prices and new micro inverter technology, we can tailor a competitively priced grid-tied system with back-up options. Or, we can pair a more traditional propane or natural gas generator with your system.

Who takes care of any incentives or tax rebates?

Likely at least the federal 30% credit will apply, and you'll file a IRS Form 5695 along with your tax return. Advanced Roofing & Solar will provide the invoice and information the IRS is looking for and point you in the right direction. And if there are any state or local incentives, we'll also help find them. However we cannot provide further tax advice and recommend you consult with a tax professional.

Do you lease systems or provide Power Purchase Agreements?

We do not at this time support leasing a residential or commercial PV system. But we do have a trusted lender who can work with you for a solar loan, while we provide the details. Borrowing it yourself this way will give you a much better return on your investment than a lease.

What is an SREC Credit?

A Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC) is a certificate that represents the environmental benefits of generating solar energy. SRECs are created for every 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) or megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity produced by a solar panel system.

The typical SREC credit in VA will range from $30-45 based on term of agreement and current market conditions in VA

What solar hardware do you use?

We are not tied to any one manufacturer, but use only Tier 1 panels as defined by Bloomberg New Energy Finance Corporation, typically with 25 year warranties. Our inverters carry either 10 or 25 year warranties as well.

Will you help service or upgrade my existing PV system?

Yes. Give us a call, we'd love to provide a free quote to help with your existing system.
